Quick Start

This page summarises the Resprite basics you are most likely to use first, so you can get comfortable with drawing, colour picking, layers, and a few everyday workflow tips in just a few minutes. Follow the linked guides when you are ready for the full details.

Undo and Redo

  • Two-finger tap on the canvas: undo the last action
  • Three-finger tap on the canvas: redo the most recent undo

Colour Picking and Brush Size

  • Long-press the canvas or a reference image to pick a colour quickly
  • Drag horizontally or vertically on the brush size control in the brush tool to adjust the brush size

Layer Basics

On mobile:

  • Double-tap a layer header to open the layer menu, then choose New Layer
  • Long-press and drag a layer header to reorder it or move it into a group

On desktop:

  • Right-click a layer header to open the layer menu, then choose New Layer
  • Select a layer first, then drag the edge of the layer selection outline to reorder it; drag it to the middle of another layer to place it inside a group

Handy Tips

  • When using Apple Pencil, a firm press can quickly trigger bucket fill
  • On iOS, you can change the timeline dock position under Menu ▸ View ▸ Timeline Position
  • To delete a palette colour, drag the swatch out of the palette window on iOS; on desktop and Android, select the swatch first and then click the delete button
