Import a reference image
Open Menu ▸ Import Reference to add imagery from Files, Photos, or the clipboard. Each reference floats independently above the canvas.

Importing a reference image
- Zoom: drag horizontally over the percentage control in the footer.
- Move: drag the image directly.
- Remove: tap the close button (
x) in the header.
tip
Double-tap the reference to cycle between zoom presets and centre it instantly.
Paste from the clipboard
Copy an image in another app, then choose Menu ▸ Import Reference ▸ Clipboard.
Pasting a clipboard image as reference
tip
With Apple’s Handoff enabled, you can copy on macOS and paste into Resprite on iOS.
Tips
- Multiple reference images can coexist in the same sprite bundle.
- References stay embedded in the Resprite bundle. Sharing the bundle includes the linked images.
- Closing a reference window deletes it from the bundle.
Sample colours from references
Select the Eyedropper tool and drag across the reference image to pick a colour. While the Eyedropper is active, the reference is locked in place to prevent accidental movement.
tip
Long-pressing on a reference also triggers colour pickup.
