Bring Artwork into Resprite
Use the Import command to load existing projects or reference material. Palette-focused workflows are covered separately in the palette guide.
Open the Import Panel
In the gallery, tap the Import button in the upper-right corner to reveal available sources.

Resprite Bundle (.resprite)
Select Import ▸ Resprite bundle to load another Resprite project.
- Save the
.respritefile to the Files app (or directly into Resprite’s app folder). - Choose the file when prompted; the sprite appears in your gallery with all layers, frames, and metadata intact.
GIF Image
Use Import ▸ GIF image to convert an animated GIF into a sprite. Resprite extracts each frame and, when the GIF stores timing metadata, mirrors the playback speed in your new project.
Sprite Sheet Image
Import ▸ Sprite sheet image lets you slice a sprite sheet into frames.
Configure the grid width, height, and padding to match the source artwork. You can select multiple images in one import session—each image becomes a separate layer, which is useful for combining animation elements.
Aseprite (.aseprite, .ase)
Resprite supports importing Aseprite files created in Aseprite 1.3 and later. Review the Aseprite compatibility notes for limitations around features such as layer effects and clipping masks before handing off production files.
