Gesture & Pencil

Resprite supports touch and stylus gestures that accelerate common tasks. Some gestures are fixed for consistency, while many can be customised in preferences.

Fixed gestures​

These gestures are always available:

  • Undo – double-tap with two fingers on the canvas.
  • Redo – double-tap with three fingers.
  • Pan / zoom – use a two-finger drag to move the canvas and a pinch to zoom.

Configurable touch gestures​

Assign actions to:

  • Long press on the canvas
  • Single-finger drag
  • Single-finger double-tap

Open Settings /doc-imgs/setting-btn.jpeg and navigate to Gesture settings to adjust mappings.

Suggested setups:

  • Map long press to the eyedropper for rapid sampling.
  • Enable Pencil draws only with one-finger gestures. While animating, assign single-finger drag to scrub frames and toggle onion skin; use double-tap to play/pause. For static illustrations, map single-finger drag to canvas pan.

Configurable pencil gestures​

Stylus-specific gestures include:

  • Double-tap
  • Low tilt action
  • High pressure action

Pencil gesture configuration

Popular configurations:

  • Assign low tilt to temporarily switch to the eraser.
  • Trigger bucket fill when applying heavy pressure.

Experiment with combinations that match your drawing style and adjust sensitivity sliders for precision.

Double-tap actions​

Available actions include:

  • Switch to eraser
  • Switch to eyedropper
  • Switch to previous tool
  • Switch to bucket tool
  • Switch to pen (always)
  • Toggle between pen and eraser
  • Undo

When you choose “Switch to …” actions, a subsequent double-tap returns to the previous tool automatically.
