Dithering

Dithering simulates additional shades and textures using alternating pixel patterns. Resprite includes an extensive pattern library that works across the pencil, eraser, bucket fill, gradient, shading, and shape tools.

Enable dithering

Each compatible tool exposes a Dither toggle and a pattern selector in its options bar. Swipe the pattern chip to preview the available designs and tap to activate one. Resprite remembers the last pattern used per tool, making it easy to combine workflows.

Practical uses

  • Add subtle shading to metallic surfaces.
  • Build repeating textures such as bricks, roof tiles, or fabric.
  • Blend two palette colours smoothly without introducing new swatches.

Example: bucket fill with dithering

Experiment with multiple passes at different opacities to achieve richer materials while staying within your palette budget.
