Canvas

Tailor the canvas to match your pixel art workflow—enable grid overlays, set isometric guides, and adjust the global canvas dimensions when projects scale up.

Grid lines

Toggle the grid via Menu ▸ View ▸ Show grid line.

Grid line overlay

Configure the grid in Preferences ▸ Canvas:

  • Grid width and height (minimum 1 pixel)
  • Stroke width
  • Colour (supports transparency for subtle guides)

Isometric guides

Enable isometric lines through Menu ▸ View ▸ Show ISO line to assist with isometric compositions.

Isometric guide lines

In Preferences ▸ Canvas, set the isometric box height (minimum 8 pixels). ISO lines inherit the grid colour for consistency.

Global canvas operations

Access Menu ▸ Sprite for sprite-wide adjustments.

Sprite-level commands

These commands affect every frame and layer:

  • Frame rate – change the animation playback speed.
  • Sprite size – uniformly scale artwork across all frames (pixels are resampled).
  • Canvas size – expand or crop the canvas with nine anchor positions.
  • Rotate / Flip – rotate or mirror the entire canvas horizontally or vertically.
note

To transform a specific region, use the selection-based tools in Editing.

Canvas preferences

Use Preferences ▸ Canvas to fine-tune grid, ISO lines, and the checkerboard background colour.

Change canvas size

Choose Menu ▸ Sprite ▸ Canvas size to adjust width and height without scaling existing pixels. The preview shows how the canvas aligns relative to current content, helping you pad or crop with precision.
